March 24, 2015 – Laos Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong today expressed his “deepest sorrow” over the passing of Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew.
In his condolence letter to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Mr Thongsing said: “I have learned with deepest sorrow of the passing away of HE Mr Lee Kuan Yew, former Minister Mentor and founding Prime Minister of Singapore.
“The demise of H.E. Mr Lee Kuan Yew caused the loss of an outstanding leader, a founder of modern prosperous Singapore who significantly contributed to the development of the country as well as the development of friendly ties and cooperation between the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Singapore, and among ASEAN countries.
“On behalf of the Government and People of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and on my own behalf, I would like to share this moment of sadness and sympathy with the Government and People of Singapore as well as with your family and friends of the late leader Lee Kuan Yew.”
