November 4, 2014 – NokScoot – a joint venture between Thailand’s Nok Air and Singapore’s Scoot – has officially received its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Department of Civil Aviation of Thailand, Singapore Airlines said in a stock market filing today.
The receipt of the AOC will pave the way for NokScoot to apply for operating permits and slots to its intended international routes.
“Promptly, we will submit an application of Japan’s Foreign Air Carrier Permit to the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau,” said NokScoot Chief Executive Officer Piya Yodmani in a statement.
“We hope to launch our service to serve the demand of passengers as soon as possible.”
Nok Air is a Thai low-cost carrier, while Scoot, which is wholly owned by SIA, focuses on medium-haul budget services.
